Accessibility Statement
Last updated: February 14, 2025
VisitPanama.xyz believes that travel information should be available to everyone. We're committed to making our website accessible to people of all abilities, including those who use assistive technologies like screen readers, magnifiers, and voice navigation.
Our Commitment
We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. These are internationally recognized guidelines that make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.
What We Do
Here are the specific measures we take to ensure accessibility:
Structure and Navigation
- We use semantic HTML to provide clear document structure (headings, lists, landmarks)
- All pages include a "Skip to content" link for keyboard users
- Navigation is consistent across all pages
- Breadcrumb navigation helps you understand where you are on the site
- The site is fully navigable using only a keyboard
Visual Design
- Text has sufficient color contrast against backgrounds (meeting WCAG AA ratios)
- The site is responsive and works well on all screen sizes
- Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
- We avoid using color alone to convey information
- Interactive elements have clear focus indicators
Images and Media
- All meaningful images have descriptive alt text
- Decorative images are properly marked so screen readers skip them
- We avoid content that flashes or blinks rapidly
Content
- We write in plain, clear language
- Content is available in both English and Spanish
- Links are descriptive so you know where they'll take you
- Forms include clear labels and helpful error messages
Technical
- Pages use proper ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes where needed
- The site's language is declared in the HTML for screen readers
- We test with multiple browsers and assistive technologies
Known Limitations
While we work hard to be accessible, we want to be honest about areas where we're still improving:
- Third-party content: Some embedded content from third parties (maps, booking widgets, social media) may not fully meet accessibility standards. We choose accessible options when available.
- Older content: Some older articles may have images with less detailed alt text. We're working to update these over time.
- PDF documents: If we link to any PDF documents, they may not be fully accessible. We aim to provide HTML alternatives when possible.
How to Report Issues
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we want to get better. If you encounter any accessibility barriers on VisitPanama.xyz, please tell us. We take these reports seriously and will work to resolve issues promptly.
When reporting an issue, it helps if you can tell us:
- The page URL where you encountered the problem
- What the issue was and what you were trying to do
- What browser and assistive technology you were using (if applicable)
- Any other details that might help us understand and fix the issue

Continuous Improvement
Web accessibility isn't a one-time task -- it's something we continuously work on. We regularly review our site, test with assistive technologies, and update our practices as standards evolve. Our goal is to make Panama's beauty and culture accessible to every visitor, whether they're exploring the country or exploring our website.
